Vinyl Liner Pool

What is a vinyl liner pool?

Vinyl liner pools are obviously made of vinyl. They have a custom sheet of vinyl separating the water and pool walls and floor. (Gunite use plaster as its waterproofing membrane.) Vinyl liners lock their top edge, called a bead, into a track located at deck level. Underneath the liner is a sand or cementitious floor, troweled into place. The floor sidewalls come up to meet the walls, which are commonly 42” x 8 ft panels made of galvanized steel or thermoplastic. These walls are get their support from behind so they won't warp from the weight of the water. The shape of the pool is formed by all the wall panels being fastened together. This is why there are some limitations when it comes to the possible shape of vinyl liner pools. However, still customers have many shapes from which to choose.

What's special about vinyl liner pools?

For starters, vinyl liner pools do not crack like concrete. They are super strong and, if built right, will last for a very long time. Typically the walls are constructed of 14 gauge stainless steel panels that are bolted together and leveled off. The steel is a g235 stainless steel and will last a lifetime in the ground. If steel is not the right choice for you, vinyl liner pools can also be constructed with a polymer style of wall. Polymer is a corrosive resistant material that is made up of a blend resins. Polymer is a lighter style of wall so pool builders love it and being corrosive resistant it holds up well to the elements of the earth.

Other benefits of of vinyl liner pools include:

Vinyl liner pools tend to have better warranties, depending on the company. Repairs are easier and less expensive, since liner tears can be patched or replaced. That means there's no need to resurface the pool with one damaged area. What's also great is that vinyl pools are customizable. You can pretty much design any dream pool, from tri-level to lap pool.

What about affordability?

Vinyl liners are the most economical choice of all the different types of pools. Not only are they durable, saving customers on maintenance and repairs, this pool type also tends to have the most cost efficient and quickest installation.
